The purchase of a horse for their daughter’s birthday in 2001 led Paul and Cindy Dean on a path back to the world of cutting horses and to the winner’s circle of the 2005 NCHA Futurity.

As a boy, Dr. Dean’s family had been involved in cutting horses and one of his vivid memories was watching Buster Welch and Dry Doc win the 1971 NCHA Futurity. The summer of 1972 he spent living in the home of legendary bit maker John Israel, riding cutting horses, roping and helping out as a young “hired hand”. Over the years, horses took a back seat to making a living, and it wasn’t until his daughter’s birthday in 2001, almost 30 years later, that he ventured back into the horse world. That initial equine purchase subsequently led to the purchase of additional cutting-bred horses and the re-kindling of an old love affair with horses, and in particular cutting horses.

Developing a relationship with cutting horse trainer Tommy Marvin, a few horses were bought, trained and sold before Highbrow Supercat was put in training. She became the first horse Dr. Dean entered at the NCHA Futurity, and the Open Champion of the 2005 Futurity. Highbrow Supercat also carried Dr. Dean to the Championship of the 2007 Amateur Classic Challenge the first time he showed in Fort Worth, and to the finals of every Amateur event he showed her in throughout her aged event career!

We are now pleased to have enough foals and embryo’s out of Highbrow Supercat that we can offer some for sale. We invite you to browse our website and see all of our horses. Visitors are always welcome!
